One night, Kazuki Muto jumps in to try to save what he thinks is a girl in distress from a monster and instead gets impaled through the heart. The girl, Tokiko, is actually an alchemic warrior with a Busou Renkin, name of Valkerie Skirt, with the mission to exterminate Homunculi. She implants the only other successful work of alchemy than the Homunculus, the Kakugane, to take the place of Kazuki's heart. The Kakugane resonates with his fighting spirit and forms a Busou Renkin (in his case a spear) so he can fight the Homunculus monsters who prey on humans. Kazuki joins with Tokiko to battle with the Homunculi and protect his friends and his sister Mahiro.

This has been one of my favourite anime for a long time now. BAsed on the manga by the creator of Rurouni Kenshin, you are given a differnt story entirely surrounding Kazuki and the world of the Arms Alchemy warriors.
This is possibly the ONLY anime I can think of that has the PERFECT balance of action, adventure, humour, building romance and emotion.
You will find the same cheezy lines delivered in any other anime actually meaningful in this. You have a wonderfully silly and heartwarming hero and his friends, plus a range of other memorable characters.
Not to mention the irreplacable villain Chouno who... I dare say nothing to spoil it, but he's a villian who at one glance, you won't forget... and may need therapy afterwards XD.
But all in all, a GREAT show. Would recommend it to fans of Bleach or FMA. Only 25 or 26 episodes, so it's not too long, not to short and the story is perfectly rounded up - which is more than I can say for most stories.
Watch it. It's very underrated and awesome and the music is great ^^
