Claymore has got a very good fantasy storyline and a lot of action-but for those weak of heart, it also is very gory. The characters are likable and interesting, and the main character is has very deep, mysterious personality. Though the manga was longer and somewhat different, the anime can stand up on its own pretty well, too.

If you can imagine Yuri on Ice! meets Holmes of Kyoto, then this is it. Slow paced but gripping. Boy-Love but not distasteful...
