This action animation from 2007 is beautiful, action-packed and has an interesting plot to boot.

In a setting similar to the Dark ages, where knights and peasants make up a fictitious European backdrop, Demons are on top of the food chain. They lived on human innards and can masquerade as humans and live among them, killing and feeding as and when they liked.

A group of female warriors called Claymores, are the only salvation to the human race. These half-demon, half-human mercenaries are able to spot demons through their eyes and kill them with their swords.

Most of these female warriors are blond, blessed with super human strength and abilities and a doll-like face. However, they are more like demons than humans, and would despatch demons without batting an eyelid. The only thing that they are forbidden to do is to kill humans.

The story evolves around Clare, a young and inexperienced Claymore, on her own quest for vengeance. Her difficult road to gain recognition by her fellow warriors.

Humans need the Claymores to survive and yet dislike their presence is the irony that is portrayed throughout.

The plot thickens and there are a few flashback episodes to connect the origin of Clare and her purpose. Full of action, gore, blood, it is definitely not for kids. Limbs are torn and innards are devoured.

However, the only downside is that the number of episodes should have been more, as it was a bit abrupt in forwarding to the showdown.

Furthermore, the ending signals that there is a sequel, but nothing has been mentioned to date.

I guess this would be just one of those good animation that are left as a single volume classic
