pros
+ good storyline with its twists, turns, and lots of references (the most notable ones to chess, which i personally love)
+ classic in the mecha department
+ combination of action, drama, and bits of comedy
cons
- main chara is quite arrogant at times and can be annoying
- character design by clamp... aka looks disproportional (people are hyper-thin, limbs too long, and women's breasts in comparison are too big)
- not for the under-16, contains violence and uncensored nudity
conclusion: if you're into mecha, this (along with gundam) is probably one of the most well-known anime, and one that deserves its reputation. well executed story that's not only about mecha, but also human condition, emotion, and dreams. main character can be annoying but his psychology is well done, and he's smart, aka makes for great strategies ;) . the animation's a little weird (character design) but the action is still good. somewhat similar to both death note and gundam, i won't deny that, but it has its own ups and downs. personally, i'm not much into mecha anime, but i'm still glad i gave this a try. however, with its violence and nudity, it's probably 16+.
peace.

If you can imagine Yuri on Ice! meets Holmes of Kyoto, then this is it. Slow paced but gripping. Boy-Love but not distasteful...
