'Black Ghost,' a top-secret organization bent on promoting global warfare, kidnaps Joe Shimamura AKA 'Cyborg 009' along with eight other unwanted members of society from the four corners of the world and turns them into cyborgs. Though the organization intends to turn the group into super-powered killing machines, it's not long before Joe and his new companions rebel against Black Ghost and make their escape with the help of an old scientist. Using their new powers and abilities, our heroes stay one step ahead of Black Ghost and its evil machinations, trying to save the world from Black Ghost's diabolical scheme. |

A simple story, boy on the run from the cops jumps off of a cliff and drifts to an island where he is experimented on and changed into an ultimate cyborg solider. All the characters have their own abilities and personalities, fire breath, disguise, KNEE ROCKETS!, and super speed.
The story starts with the main character waking up and then finding he has super powers basically..
He proceeds to meet up with a group of 8 other cyborgs that all have many of the same abilities as he does. They then escape the island and basically shinanigans ensue as they battle black ghost(the main villain) in an effort to free themselves from being constantly pursued.
The series fits together pretty well, and still is good even for its age.
