Summary:
Yagami Light is an ace student with great prospects, who's bored out of his mind. One day he finds the "Death Note": a notebook from the realm of the Death Gods, with the power to kill people in any way he desires. With the Death Note in hand, Light decides to create his perfect world, without crime or criminals. However, when criminals start dropping dead one by one, the authorites send the legendary detective L to track down the killer, and a battle of wits, deception and logic ensues...

instead of talking about "THIS ANIME IS SO GREAT!" -.- I'm going to explain why its good.
This is a nice and mature anime. It has its laughs and nice moments. Death Note didn't really give a nice broad background of all its characters. This show makes you think and lures you into whats going to happen next which is nice. unlike naruto or bleach this one doesn't have any fillers to throw you off.
For the Dialogue, unique and interesting. No "cocky" behaviors or what not. a few mature jokes were thrown in there which is great. No one wants a boring serious anime, right? The dialogue was what lured you into this show like i said earlier. You can learn what each of the characters personalities are if you listen closely to what they say.
The animation is great, nice cars, guns and all that. Death Note had impressive animated humans as well. And the shinigamis of course.
If your bored and got nothing else to do this will make you entertained. This show doesn't fall right to the begging after a few episodes like full metal alchemist. Watch it, if your bored that is ;)
