Ok not trying to be mean, but the previous Death Note reviewer leaves much to be admired. So, gradually, I'll re-review it.
Death Note contains the mythical beings known as Shinigami (Or gods of Death Shini-Death. Kami-God. Japanese lessons ;)) It shows how they influence the world etc.
This anime portrays, in a way. us. It is about how the world would be affected, should such a notebook fall into our hands.
There's no doubt we'd all pretty much do the same.
The storyline was absolutely amazing with twists that you would not expect. The arty side of it was extremely amazing in terms of the Shinigami Realm. Music was good and will have you downloading the track and the characters are absolutely lovable, especially L.
This will always be one of the greatest animes ever. I literally bought every manga as well as bonus chapters relating to it.
I'm sure you will love this anime as it is definitely not a waste of time.

If you can imagine Yuri on Ice! meets Holmes of Kyoto, then this is it. Slow paced but gripping. Boy-Love but not distasteful...
