This anime is visually beautiful. I found myself wrapped up in the story very quick, desperately trying to figure out what was going on. This would qualify in my book, as an intellectual supernatural mystery.
While the story was interesting all the way through, I don't feel as though I would need to watch it more than twice at most. Once to enjoy it and once to realize how deceptively intelligent the whole plot is. There is not much in the way of humor or "heroic" action. The story is more dramatic than anything else.
I enjoyed the first L arc, more than the second one. The ending was complete and appropriate to the series, albeit abrupt. I would suggest this story if you like mysteries and using your brain.
I would not suggest this to people looking for a comedy, super-hero action, supernatural fight scenes or romances. This is strictly a dramatic work.

If you can imagine Yuri on Ice! meets Holmes of Kyoto, then this is it. Slow paced but gripping. Boy-Love but not distasteful...
