I've seen hundreds of anime series and this story truely stands out. A shinigami that gets bored and throws a death note to earth and gets in the hands of a brilliant A student, popular between girls. He starts to "judge the evil" with the death note to create a new world where he's the new God and to top that he's the son of the police captain of tokyo, and if this isn't enough the elite mind of the world "L" is behind him... TELL ME ONE ANIME STORY THAT CAN TOP THAT!
I've tried to find similar series like death note (monster, aoi bungaku, darker than black, ghost hunt...) but they just can't stand with mighty "Death Note".
I know this isn't as popular as other animes (Naruto, Bleach, Fairytale, Hitman Reborn, One Piece) just because it's not an action series but... I guess good taste of pshycological, mystery and thriller animes isn't for everyone. GOOD TASTE IS FOR MINORITIES :D
