Overall Rating
Good
Story: 5
Dialogue: 5
Animation: 2
Entertainment: 5
This is more of a first impression of the first 21 episode.
Story: I don't need to explain this. There's a reason why Fairy Tail is an evergreen Anime. Although in this Arc, can't say I'm impressed. Too many problems, and they did a bad job dividing it. But the overall story is still great.
Dialogue: It's very well-written, although it might seem bad because of how bad they did with the arrangement of the story.
Animation: This is where I'm disappointed in this season. Sure, the animation is a lot better than the previous one, BUT they didn't make a good use of it. In the previous season, some might say it's a "Slide Show". But they did a GREAT job in making the best of it. They optimize on what limited capabilities they had. And in return, a lot of people didn't even notice, and would think the animation is top-notch. The only one who would notice is either a hater or a critic. Even a critic wouldn't even notice until they finally start reviewing.
Okay, enough with the previous season, now back on topic. In this season, even if this season have a better animation, they didn't make the best of it. And about the new art, which resembles more to the Manga, can't say I like it. It seems too "Manga-ish", while the previous season feels more "Anime-ish" (What's wrong with that? It's an adaptation of a manga!) Well, that's the problem here. It's called an "Adaptation", one should adapt with the surroundings. I'm gonna give one more example for an anime that failed as an adaptation - Hunter X Hunter 2011 Chimera Ant Arc (Halfway). Just so there's no misunderstanding, it's just 1 arc they did a bad job in adapting.
Entertainment: Opening, Ending, Background theme, it's all cool. And they often do a lot of funny jokes.
