Both on humor and romance, this is a weak, draggy series. The humor was sometimes pretty good in the beginning, but gets more and more inconsistent as it goes, and becomes really predictable, forced and lame.
The terrible humor pattern is very similar to other publications from the same magazine that published this: Square Enix. If you watched/read any previous unfunny, predictable, forced humor gag manga from Square Enix, then you watched them all.
TLDR; Not only Square Enix butchers legendary Squaresoft IPs on a regular basis, they also publish half-assed crap manga/anime.
I will say this in its defense, though: there's worse anime out there.
