Summary: In Giant Killing a ragtag bunch from East Tokyo are struggling in Japan's top football league. The team is going through an abysmal spell right now where they are nearing the bottom of the table and have lost 5 matches in a row. The loses haven't done much to team moral, because it was already low. Fan support, on the other hand, is looking bleak. In the world of football, once the fans turn on a team the end is near. Teams don't recover. Coaches are fired, players are sold, and teams drop to smaller divisions where profits often prevent them from ever being successful against even mediocre top division programs. East Tokyo United, ETU, can only blame their coach right now. And Coach is ready to give up this next game to prove to his team and fans, that against the biggest club in the nation he can make this team win.

Being mostly into shounen anime I don’t really ever watch sport anime let alone a football anime, being a avid Manchester United FC supporter I thought lets give this a shot. After watching episode 1, I was quite eager to see what happens in episode 2 and before long I found myself drawn into the world of East Tokyo United and the mind that is Tatsumi Takeshi. I couldn’t help but notice how Tatsumi reminded me of José Mourinhou (Real Madrid FC Manager) and how they implemented almost identical strategies to defeat the bigger clubs. This is entertaining from episode 1 right through to 26 it made feel apart of the team from the losses, training sessions, the conflicting fan support to the ecstatic joy felt when the team scores. It focuses on the development of the team and the players more than just the advancement of a specific main character. It had me SCREAMING GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAL when they scored and there are very intense encounters that had me feeling as though I was in the stadium rooting them on and chanting for my favorite players, I figuratively pulled me hair when a scoring opportunity was missed and had me prasing Tatsumis’ stratergy. A Must Watch even if you don’t like sport.!!!
