| Summary: |
It's Yui Hirasawa's first year in high school, and she's eagerly searching for a club to join. At the same time, Ritsu Tainaka, a drummer, and her friend Mio Akiyama, a bassist, are desperately trying to save the school's light music club, which is about to be disbanded due to lack of members. They manage to recruit Tsumugi Kotobuki to play the keyboard, meaning they only need one more member to get the club running again. Yui joins, thinking it will be an easy experience for her to play the castanets, the only instrument she knows. However, the other members think their new addition is actually a guitar prodigy... |

So a day I was checking for some new anime to watch, in the slice-of-life and comedy genre, and stumbled upon this... K-On!. It's made by the same people that made Clannad, so I had high expectations for it. Those expectations were met! K-On! is hilarious. It might not cater to everyone out there because it has a bit of a girly-ish theme to it... but its not really like that, more so that it has a "cute & funny" theme to it. Almost everything the main character does is so funny or cute in some way that makes you laugh! The whole anime basically goes through the lives of the members of the Light Music Club (K-On). You'll encounter a tremendous amount of comedy, and there's also some drama in between. Drama in K-On! is relatively light, so for those who came to watch this from Clannad, don't expect tear-jerkers, but it manages to have a few serious issues in some episodes. As I've mentioned before, Comedy is everywhere in this so your definitely either going to be laughing out loud, or giggling, or smiling! I can tell you all this though, whenever I watch some episodes from K-On! I ALWAYS feel REJUVENATED and HAPPY for some reason... It like has this relaxing mood that I love. Now, unto the music! The music is amazing in K-On!. I really loved the OP's and ED's as well as what the actual band would play. My only complaint is that they don't always show you them playing and whatnot. Like say, at a concert, they'd start playing, and the "camera" would just focus elsewhere rather than on them, or a music video thing would play (which I found awesome!) . I actually wanted to see them play/sing, because something about seeing them play/sing just makes it look so awesome! I know I sound weird, but watch it and you'll see what I mean. The experience is better when you actually see them! All in all, this is a definite watch for those looking for light humor and light drama, with a big touch some awesome music! 5/5

If you can imagine Yuri on Ice! meets Holmes of Kyoto, then this is it. Slow paced but gripping. Boy-Love but not distasteful...
