Portrays the lives of several school girls attending a Japanese high school with a very loose humor tone. The main heroine is Konata Izumi, an athletic and intelligent girl who, despite these attributes, is not in a sports club, and her grades remain low. Her laziness at school is due to her love for anime and video games, and she is not interested in much else. |

This is truely a phenomenal anime that takes a very simple premise and makes the sweetest and hilarious series out of it.
The episodes move fast with often more than 10 mini-plots per episode, each showing off the characters to their upmost. All the characters are well balanced and lovable and even though they are used to parody pretty well everything in anime and manga they always manage to stay away from being purely stereotypical.
However, i must say that even though anime newbies will still enjoy this, the show is so packed with references from the obvious to the extremely obscure that to be able to get the most from this show, a serious knowledge of anime would enhance your enjoyment of this immesurably.
Oh and one little tip, make sure you watch to the absolute end of each episode. The outro "lucky channel" segment and the closing credits are sometimes even more funny than the actual episodes themselves (and thats saying something) so make sure you dont miss out!!
To sum up, this is my favourite all time anime and i strongly urge anyone who loves anime to watch this, you won't be disappointed!
