The story centers on a sophomore named Kanako who enrolls in all-girls school because she has a phobia of men and wants to find her destined yuri partner. She meets a captivating freshman named Mariya who fits her criteria β except her seemingly ideal mate happens to be a cross-dressing sadistic boy.

Kanako's enters the first of a 3 year ordeal at a school. Year 1 being Maria Holic, Year 2 Maria Holic Alive, Year 3 Not yet released. Story itself centers around the dreams of the individual students so it makes it difficult to see whether its progressing or not. Nevertheless great dialogue, great insight into the characters, and very entertaining. I was hooked after the first episode.
