Review:
Well, where to start. Let's see.. The best comparison to Mazinkaiser SKL to another anime would be if Gundam's story was written by an escapee from a mental institution. That's not a bad thing either. It makes it pretty original, Especially seeing as Mecha has been done a billion times over. Let's move onto the more painful points first, The story for this short OVA based on the Mazinkaiser series is rather "shallow" and doesn't give you ALLOT of information about the Mazinkaiser world, rather it focuses on the "here and now" of the OVA(No Dr.Hell for one. :[). Though as far as I remember, this has nothing to do with the original story, I could be wrong though(Haven't read Mazinkaiser's manga for YEARS =\). So all in all, for Mazinkaiser fans(Or Go Nagai fans, :P), the story would probably be good, Those unfamiliar with the series, not so much. Now for the heros. I love these guys, They aren't your typical do-gooder "trying to save the world" people. No, they are completely and totally INSANE. It's a nice change.. But I'll leave it at that. I wouldn't want to spoil it :P. The music is fitting, fast paced and really gets you into the destructive mood, Just the mood you want for this ;]. The dialog comes off pretty good too, For example, You can really hear the difference in personalities between the main characters. And last but not least, the ACTION! THE BATTLES! probably one of the biggest draw points for this little OVA. The action isn't diluted by 12 episodes of chatter or back story. There's at least 3 battles(Yes battles, NOT fights..) in the first episode, and at least another 3 each in the remaining 2. And they aren't half arsed, slack off battles either. Kaisers style is well, unique to say the least. Gun and sword action from the same mecha. I could keep going but I think I'll end it there.

So to round it all off. If you've never really been into Mazinkaiser or just didn't know about it, You may find the story slightly uninteresting or even poorly done due to the lack of explanation. But even counting that out, Mazinkaiser SKL still has a good deal of entertainment value based off it's intense action.
