Summary: Himura Kenshin is a vagabond with a dark past and sunny disposition. Not a ronin but a rurouni, he was never a samurai, but an assassin of utmost skill in the Meiji restoration, who in the turning point of the war simply walked away. His travels lead him to Tokyo in the 11th year of the Meiji era, where he befriends a female Kendo master, a former thief, a brawler and a doctor all with their own secrets. Together they fight off the enemies surfacing from the dark past that Kenshin cannot escape.

This is an old anime, yet very good. It has an intriguing storyline, making you want to watch more and delve deeper, to find out the hidden history behind the main character as it progresses. One after an another, Battusai's old enemies pop up, and make you want you to know what Kenshin's relation to these people are and how he came to know them.
The anime explores sword combat, something generally not done in most animes but here it is presented as a versatile method of fighting, something that makes one wonder how effective it can be and how many different ways it can used.
The story also has a historical background which makes it more interesting, especially to watch how people may have lived then even though it is not a precisely accurate depiction, it is interesting.
Even though the tone of the anime is generally serious, they add in some humor to make it enjoyable and even add in a few pure comedy episodes to relieve the tension.
Overall, it is a very well presented and nicely made anime
