This is the story of Furuya, a 15 year old boy who is obsessed with zombies. From videos to manga, trinkets to video games, he will stop at nothing in his quest for anything zombie related. However, his interests turns from a simple hobby into an obsession when his cat dies in an accident. Using an old manuscript, Furuya embarks on a quest to revive his fallen pet. During his quest however, he is discovered by the idol Rea, a popular and elegant lady from a wealthy family. Though it may appear that her life is perfect, everything is not as it seems. And she turns to Furuya, wishing to die and be reborn as a different person? |

New Twist on Romantic Comedies

I'm all for romantic comedies and Sankarea is a great one. It puts a twist on the whole genre with the zombie formula, and it works out really well. Although both Furuya and Rea are very shy about their feelings toward one another, eventually they start to come out of their shell toward the end of the series. Seeing that the manga is about to come to an end, if it hasn't ended already, there should be a second or possibly a third season, which I am really looking foward to because this first season didn't really come to a conclusion. My favorite thing about Sankarea though, would have to be the ending song, it's very beautiful and matches the theme of the anime very well. Not too many cons about this anime, besides the fact that it had a incomplete ending, because to me it's pretty much perfect!
