I don't remember looking forward each week to a new anime episode as much as I've looked forward to SAO. I really resisted beginning this series because I'd heard so much about it and I didn't want to get started before the episodes had finished airing... only to be stuck waiting week after week to watch a single episode at a time.

But after watching the final (?) episode last night I can honestly say it was worth it.

Even though I've just finished watching this series, I already want to go back and watch it again... the mix of fantasy and reality is so good. The way the show plays up the notion that who you are in a virtual world reflects who you really are as a person was eye-opening and insightful. Combined with the fact that the actions they took in a virtual world had real-life consequences really added to the level of tension.

As already evidenced, there will be lots and lots of positive reviews for SAO now that the series has wrapped up but I wanted to add my thoughts as well...

If you are in any way on the fence about watching this series, don't be. SAO is destined to be one of the anime series you will look back on years from now and reminisce with fondness that you were glad to have been alive to have been a part of something so amazing...
