| Summary: |
Sternbild City is home to people called "Next," who use their special abilities to protect the people as superheroes. These heroes solve cases and save lives so they can wear sponsor logos or acquire "hero points." Their activities are documented on the popular program "Hero TV," which picks the "King of Heroes" in a yearly ranking. The veteran hero Wild Tiger has always preferred to work alone, but now he's been assigned the rookie Barnaby Brooks Jr., who has a different perspective on being a superhero. |

Okay, well honestly I was first wary about this show. But it wasn't until I read the recent review Otaku USA gave on it (which was honestly a good review and you should check it out for more details). So when I watched this I was blown away! Everything about it is perfect! This is a story that really hasn't been made before. In short in some city ( They say its in Japan but honestly I doubt it) people find entertainment in watching broadcasted crime fights that happen live all over the city. These heros work their butts off to protect people but also wrack up points at the same time for doing certain tasks like saving people or if you're the first one on the scene. Its gotten to the point where these heros are branded with sponsors all over their bodies. The interesting thing is how all these different characters interact with each other and fight crimes despite their differences. One thing that you should note is that the majority of these characters already graduated, I mean I was getting tired of seeing all these school kids run around and save the day in other animes, but now this gives us a different perspective on how adults handle things. Plus the humor is there in each episode because it doesn't use the same jokes that most animes us all the time. It may seem like fillers the first couple of eps but wait until you get to ep 7, that's when things get REALLY interesting. The animation...is different from what we're use to I'll say. I mean this show is perfect if it wasn't for the animation. Not saying its bad. But the thing is that they animate everyone to the point where they look american instead of Japanese (considering they're supposed to be Japanese). Also the only other issue is that 95% of the females seen on the show are so masculine that they resemble drag queens. So I would recommend this show for anyone who wants something new. You won't be dissapointed and will continue to be amused (come on, if you don't find these hero's antics not funny then you have no soul). Example, the idol pop-singer icequeen hero uses fanservice to escape bad guys, to which her agent actually encourages to do.

If you can imagine Yuri on Ice! meets Holmes of Kyoto, then this is it. Slow paced but gripping. Boy-Love but not distasteful...
