Summary: Jin, a mysterious kid with a halo carved in his hand, and extraordinary fighting skills, lives with his grandfather in a beggar's community. In other place, the old scientist Amagi is searching for professor Kanzaki, to ask him for the whereabouts of the "player" -a kind of genetic altered humans- Zet, which they created some years ago. Soon, Jin and his grandfather are attacked by a mysterious man who turns into a monster. The connection between professor Amagi and professor Kanzaki, seems to connect also young Jin to the mystery of the "players", and Zet.
The story starts off with a face-off between two rival heroes, ZET and ALPHAS, and then traces their origins - Jin Kanzaki, a young man with the ability to transform into a superhuman being known as ZET, and Kouga Amagi, a young man with a strong sense of justice who uses technology to fight as ALPHAS. The fates of these two men and those around them intertwine as they fight to protect mankind and destroy monstrous abominations known as Players, who ironically are the creations of the Amagi Corp.

This anime is very amazing. It poses an ethical dilemna: If someone has the power, is it a good thing to kill criminals? The two main characters in this series are both geniuses on opposite sides of this question, and one is given that power, while the other takes control of the police force to attempt to stop the first. Both are brilliant and cause many interesting plot turns as they attempt to outmaneuver their opponent.

Even though this is an old anime, I still find it amazingly captivating. I'm now watching it for the fourth time now in as many years, as I find new people who would enjoy it and introduce them to it. I've not yet found someone who dislikes it, and I don't think you will either.

However, this probably isn't for those who are looking only for action fight scenes or a light-hearted anime. The battles here are mental, but have dark and lethal consequences.
