Summary:
The anime will be an adolescent romantic comedy. When a group of friends decide to make a movie over a long summer holiday, they end up learning a little about filmmaking and a lot more about each other and themselves. What begins as a simple way to avoid the summer doldrums quickly turns into something much more complex, intimate and revealing, as the maturing relationships between the members of the young cast take on new, and sometimes very unexpected, turns.
i dont know how i can describe this anime.. but, put it simply.. IT'S aMAziNG!!
the story itself is not something new.. but, the way it was put together..
i just can feel it.. i almost cried in the ending.. it was amazing anime.. looking forward to something like this again
When I watched the first episode, i was hooked. The story was great, the characters and everything else. The ending made me cry. I don't usually cry but the ending was so touching i couldn't help myself. A must watch!

This was another wonderful love story by the studio that brought us Onegai Teacher and Onegai Twins. The story starts similar to Onegai Teacher with an alien crashing to earth. As for the rest, it was an emotional ride which brought light to the question: can friendship survive through tangled love? The animation was up to par with Onegai Teacher/Twins and the entertainment value was exceptional. I watched the whole series straight through in one sitting (good thing it's my day off). The only complaint I have is the rushed ending. I'm hoping (read more)

The only complaint I have is the rushed ending. I'm hoping for an OVA to fill in the gaps. Onegai Teacher/Twins both had a 12 episode series with a single OVA at the end to help clear up details that were left unanswered due to the rushed endings in episode 12. I'm hoping they do the same thing for this series because the end really was clipped short. The clipped ending was the only reason I gave the story a 4 instead of a 5 rating. (show less)
Loved this series! Yes, it does cause you to have flashbacks to older classics like Please Teacher! but Ano Natsu carries itself in a fresh, light-hearted manner distinct from any other series I've seen.
If you love romance then you're sure to enjoy Ano Natsu!

My wife and I finished watching this series last night and we both really enjoyed it. It is a short series but each episode builds the story and leaves you wanting to watch 'just one more'. And yes, the love-love triangle in this one is more complicated than Please Teacher! but is still frustratingly heartwarming and concludes in a satisfying way. It has some twists and turns that even I didn't anticipate but that just added to the positive viewing experience!
Technically, the artwork and animation are top notch. Very lively and colourful. Dialog is sharp and the characters really shine through the dialog. The OP and ED are good but not keepers for me and BGM was appropriate also.
One thing we both appreciated was that they kept fanservice to a minimum. Fanservice has it's place but a lot of short romcom series tend to overdo it.
Ano Natsu is destined to be a keeper and although it doesn't feel necessary, I would not be disappointed if they made a second season at all! And yes, my prediction that the resolution would drag on into the credits was correct so keep watching!
I don't now why but this anime reminds me onegai sensei. Story line, characters (main and secondary) are almost the same. This is obvious. But why it have only twelve episodes???
