Mature (May contain sex, drugs, and extreme graphic violence)

Status:
Completed
Summary:
Each of the stories in the series involves several unrelated plots intersecting and crossing each other as events spiral farther and farther out of control. Immortal alchemists, mafia operated speakeasies, and many other elements of pulp fiction mashed together for a world straight out of the movies.
Baccano! is a gritty, violent, flashy, fast-paced series. Events flash by out of order, main characters are so numerous you'd probably need both hands and feet to count them and...it was all done very well. Baccano! is very cleverly executed and will constantly keep the audience on the edge. The confusing presentation of the events is key to the enjoyment of the finale as all these, seemingly random and out-of-place events and characters all collide to produce a gigantic explosion of chaos and excitement!

The characters all have their quirks that distinguish them from one another and the audience will have no problem remembering all of the main characters. This is quite a feat because some anime with less characters cannot even get the audience to remember half of them.
What I LIKE about Baccano!:
-Excellent presentation
-Great voice acting
-Appropriate background and Opening and Closing music
-Memorable, large cast of colourful characters
-Conclusive conclusion, all sub plots tied together neatly
What I DISLIKE about Baccano!:
-Can be a bit too violent in some instances but does not detract from the overall enjoyment
Well... hmm... from the beginning till the end there was no main character!!
So, you have to follow all characters storylines and there are quite lot of them...This is a story with actually no beginning and absolutely no end!?
One very impressive aspect of Baccano is the director vision and how did he execute the plot of the story and how he will let you think as a viewer that you start to unfold the relation ships between the different characters. But! You did not!!
Also, the series time frame was in different years and it was mainly between (read more)

Also, the series time frame was in different years and it was mainly between 1930 and 1932. Jumping from 1932 to 1930 and coming back to 1931 and again to 1932...and so on.. The director succeeds in making it easy to follow or rather it made the story more smooth and clear.
Over all, it is a good show and it deserves to be watched!! (show less)
Baccano takes place in a historical setting but it isn't completely realistic. At first it's hard to follow and I still don't fully understand the position of the first episode in the story or some of the mysteries.
The story is really good. All the charcters and plots are connected somehow which makes it interesting to keep watching to solve more of the mysteries. I should warn you though. Pay attention to the year in which something takes place. I think I was too relaxed when I started watching resulting in it being like some characters where (read more)

The dialogue isn't particularly good and again, it's a bit difficult to follow when you start watching especially if you're not paying attention. There are a lot of characters and a couple of maffia families so it's kind of important to remember some names. Luckily the intro helps you with that and it doesn't even make it boring.
The animation is also very good. It really captures the tension or the horror in some scenes. The effects are convincing and so is the sound.
It's weird. I can come up with a couple of good reasons why this is a good anime but still I didn't have the urge to keep watching one episode after another. I wanted to know what was going to happen next but I think I wasn't really being suckt into the plot because of all the different main characters
or because I was usually pretty tired when I started watching ^^ (show less)
