If you liked Serial Experiments Lain, Mousou Dairinin, Denno Coil, you definitely must watch this piece of art! And if you don't know about these series, you should give a try for this one horror, mistery, psychological show! The story evolves around a creature called Boogiepop - personification of death - angel of death. Each episode centers on different characters who sometimes have just a short involvement in the major events of the show. Many scenes are seen twice, from different perspectives. During the whole show you will try to find out what ( read more)

There are a lot of things happening in this anime, and they're not all happening together, or in order. That's part of the draw of it, the story challenges you to put the pieces together.

Indeed this is an excelent piece of animation, I do however have one correction to suggest in the title, the name "Boogiepop Never Laughs" actually refers to a light novel (and live action movie) that takes place before the series Boogiepop Phantom, and explains what the "Mysterious Pilliar of Light" is, as well as origins of many of the characters.
That being said, the story is Awesome. Aaaaand somewhat confusing at first. Like a lot of the best stories, you need more than one view, one perspective to understand the bigger picture. At times ( read more)

That being said, the story is Awesome. Aaaaand somewhat confusing at first. Like a lot of the best stories, you need more than one view, one perspective to understand the bigger picture. At times the Dialogue can suffer, but thats really to be expected from a mystery/horror. The animation isn't always for everyone either, though when you uderstand that most of the story is told through flashbacks/people messing with others heads, the often sepia toned/tunnel visioned art makes sense, in its own twisted way.
