D Gray man is a wonderfull drawn anime, with good music and a few very interestesting characters. I have enjoyed watching Allen, Lavi and Kanda. However, it is also the first anime I have ever watched where lots of things are happening and yet... I find myself terribly bored. My attention would drift and I would simply walk away from it. After attempting to watch it for the 3rd time, I have actually given up. I am sure that somewhere after the 31st episode, there is some kinda of character development. However, after a few minutes of an episode I ma simply left unable to watch.
I can't really explain it. The story within the first 30 episodes lacks something dramatically. And even if there is a sudden change after 30 episodes... after feeling this way through the first 30, I can't seem to bring myself to even try anymore sadly.
However I know many people who adore this series, so this is simply ym personal preference.
But I would suggest that if you don't get into it after 12 episodes, you should move onto something else.
I normally give anime a 3 episode starting chance. With this, I was being generous.
And saly some of the side characters...well most of the side characters were just too irritating to deal with.
My apologises to existing fans. I am sure there is wonderful story in the 2nd half, however if it hasn't grabbed me in 30 episodes, it won't happen.
