A beautiful bright anime filled with comedy, action and a touch of school life and romance. As mentioned in the title the second season of Dog Days was recently announced however the release date is still unknown.
A wonderfully happy anime that easily captures the viewers attention. The main character is not your average student (watch the first episode and you'll understand) who is whisked into another world. He is surprisingly quick to adapt to his surroundings though he's your average male character who is honest, bright, strong and has high (read more)

The voice actors in the anime were definitely an upside. Tetsuya Kakihara, Yui Horie, Daisuke Ono and Mamoru Miyano. The pile of favourite voice actors was unbelievable. At the moment there is no English dub but considering its popularity there's a possibility for one in the later future.
The soundtrack is average not being too great or really bad. There are a couple of insert songs done by Yui Horie and the opening credits song's not too bad.
The animation tends to stay away from the serious dark parts of anime retaining a bright aura the whole way through. Its bright so the scenes are mostly easy to follow. There was one fight scene they did during the night where the lighting and camera shots made it hard to make out what was happening but other than that one scene everything else was pretty easy to follow.
Its definitely an anime that the younger audience would be interested in. However that doesn't mean that its no good for other ages the action provides entertainment for action lovers and it also provides a sense of adventure in this innocent like fantasy world where war is more like a game show. The comedy is not tear-jerking nor is the romance all that big but the themes of giving it you're all and bonds of friendship are present. If you enjoyed it there's also a short manga version of it (1 volume exactly) and also four volumes of the light novel not to mention the next season coming out at a later date. (show less)

Great anime, story is cheerful and interesting. I like the personality of every character here, they're very funny!
The ending is beautiful.. Liked it so much. :D
I recomended this to evryone, though this season only ends at 13th episode.
I REALLY look forward for the next season, because only 13 episode of this anime is NOT ENOUGH for me.. XD
If I was going to make an anime, this is pretty close to what I'd make. It contains almost everything that I like in its concept: Magic, dog people, interdimensional transportation and a few very silly concepts. It's so much like what I'd make that it's actually kind of scary. There's even a character who has my name, looks a lot like me and acts like me. He's relatively minor, but still. I wonder whether they were stalking me when they made it.
this anime is really addicting in the beginning but at like episode 8 or so when the princess was captured i just got bored im just used to this i mean the girls would like this (ima guy) but not so sure for the guys it is mainly about the rivalry between these two princesses who play this game for power. i just think it is kinda boring if you think differently and you think it is good tell me about it at DarkerThanBlackinc@gmail.com

My first impression of Dog Days is that it was just your average magical genre where a boy was whisk away to magical realm by a pleading princess and asked to play hero in order to fight their war and save the day. The first few episodes got me interested. The animation, action scenes and even the magical seals that they used reminds me a bit of Lyrical Nanoha and the cats and dogs characters where really cute to watch. I also like the idea that the race that's been having a hard time fighting the war were the dogs instead of the cats (usually (read more)

I also like the idea that the race that's been having a hard time fighting the war were the dogs instead of the cats (usually its the other way around). What really peak my interest was the idea that the so-called war was actually just a game that they played in order to gain points thus make money! Watching it reminds me of your typical rpg/strategy war games where you set the parameters, arrange your troops, makes some conditions etc... in fact nobody actually dies instead they turn into cute little furball versions of themselves! Milfi (dog princess) is also a pop-star who after an "event" held concerts for entertainment and yup all is invited even the cats! All these was fresh and new unfortunately things started to go downhill when the story shifted to a much more serious tone like the Leo (dog princess) attempt to actually invade the neighboring kingdom and take their price treasure and the appearance of the not-so friendly demons (actually there was only one!) which i think is out of place and totally ruined the fun & exciting premise that the series actually started on. The reason why Leo wants to get the treasure just to prevent her vision of Milfi dying instead of talking to her about it (yup! they're actually best buds) is also a bit confusing. It would have been better if they stick to the "war games" and fan-service trying to outwit each other in order to make points & cash instead of "demon-hunter" story which is typical and boring.
