I agree with the earlier review by @Seoullover and @Haloichigo1. DBZ started the anime fad no one is denying that, but that doesn't make it good. There is just fighting after fighting with nothing else. Most of the characters are useless, plus every arc involves the same storyline: An evil guy kills one of the heroes and the other heroes uses dragon balls to revive them.
Don't get me wrong, I love this anime and it uses to be my favorite when I was little, but it doesn't stand up to the standards to actually call it a great anime.

DBZ the legendary that started a fad in the forms of many anime, but just because it is known and had many remakes does it make it good? DBZ never seems to have any points in which you can love the characters. It is fighting after fighting with no real storyline at all. Everything leads to dramatic fight, with the use of a large yet mostly useless cast and out of nowhere techniques and transformations. It is easy to like, but hard to love. It mostly feels as if you are watching someone play a fighting game, lack of story and fight after fight. I (read more)

I loved this anime as a kid and thought it was the greatest thing ever, but after getting older and watching new anime you realize how much this anime lacks and it actually becomes funny. It might be an iconic anime, but other anime does what this anime wanted to do better. I still cherish DBZ as for being part of my childhood, but there are so many more action anime with actual character development, great action, and a good story to follow. (show less)
remake is better this wastes too much time before one attack they power up for 10 mins and then fight for 20 sec and then they spend another 10mins says "wow that was soo fast i couldn't see it" or " were r they they r so fast" gets really anoying
