Summary:
Tohru Honda is 16 year old orphaned girl who gets invited to live in the house of her classmate, the handsome boy Sohma Yuki, and his cousins, 16 year old Kyo and 27 year old Shigure. However, these young men and parts of the rest of their family (both close and distant) hold a curse; if they are hugged by the opposite gender, they transform into animals of the Chinese Zodiac. Everyday is an adventure for sweet Tohru, as she gets to know everyone in the large family better (especially Yuki and Kyo), in both common and bizarre situations. But, the Sohma Family curse is certainly no laughing matter... it also holds horrible cruelity and heartbreak.

This is one of the first anime i've watched and one of the best. In my opinion, they should continue on making more episodes because I thought the ending was a bit slack compared to the manga. Overall this is a quite good anime and I recommend it to anyone.

i frican love this show one of my favorites....nuff said
there are some actor's figure who seems a little excessive because its far from the people's figure in real life. however, the story is full of advice in order to overcome the problems of life. and I really love the opening song.
If I'd have a metaphor for watching this series, it'll be like drinking green tea and eating mochi at the same time. Bittersweet. Sure, the series is chock full of cute and adorable funny moments that make you turn into a Japanese school girl, complete with that quintessential trademark exclamation "KYA!! KAWAIIIIII". Fruits Basket is likely to make you cry as it is to make you roll on the floor with laughter. It's a simple anime. The characters speak for themselves. It's a shame the anime ended before the manga did. I really enjoyed the conclusion (read more)

Regardless, if you're looking for something less intense than, let's say Naruto or Bleach, this is the anime to watch. (show less)
