Summary:
Hakuouki season 2. A preview episode for summarizing season 1 was aired before the start of season 2.
The season begins straight after the first season, in the 4th year of the Keiou era. The Shinsengumi, having recuperated sine the loss in Toba-Fushimi, are assigned to guard Koufu castle and are assigned new uniforms for camaflague in the western war. The end of this tale draws near.

this is such an amazing samurai show. based on real events, so in a way, it's like you're also studying japanese history. why can't we make an anime of all history so that it'd be much more entertaining while learning?
anyways, the characters are such bishounen, but they're definitely just not eye candies. they all have their own identities and are firm to what they believe in. there wasn't any irritating or useless character for me. it's also good that the story is solid and no episode was wasted. i believe it has all what you'd need--adventure, (read more)

eps 1-12 are the first season of Hakuouki Shinsengumi Kitan. 13-22 are season 2. aka eps 1-10 of Hakuouki Hekketsuroku. just that both animes are on the site and the eps are labelled incorrectly. u can find both seasons 1 and 2 under shinsengumi kitan by DB. all 22 eps again are under Hekketsuroku. by various subbers.. just noticing i downloaded both animes and ended up having 2 of each ep. just to save the confusion of every1 else..
Every time i try to download this season it does so without sound. And its starting to drive me nuts!

It is an amazing watch and I really enjoyed it. It's so bittersweet and the ending would just leave you crying in tears because its that good!

Although I have no idea how I stumbled upon this lovely anime, I'm so happy I did! The sword fights, the monsters, the gradual romance, the history (I actually learned a few things!) worked together so perfectly, I honestly didn't want it to stop! Although it says that it is still airing, I have not seen anything else from them. But! That doesn't mean you shouldn't watch it! The characters are amazing, not to mention good looking, and the history/fantasy combo makes this a more than worthwhile anime.

Seeing as I watched both parts of the series in one go, it's pretty hard to rate only one part of them, especially since I only just noticed that this part is up separately. I'm giving you a note on the series as a whole:

Despite the story being based on Japanese 19th century history, you don’t need much background to understand what is going on. The plot’s fast-paced but steady without plot holes. The first few episodes move a little slowly, but it picks up pace when you see what has been going on all the time. Genrewise, there’s history and politics mixed with action, mystery, suspense, supernatural, friendship, romance, and humour.
Characters: lots of bishounen (*insert fangirl squeal*) but everyone with an individual personality and style.
Dialogues: Partly really funny, especially with the characters teasing each other :D
Animation is top-notch, no complaints. Fights are realistic, and the colours are something to behold. However, there is some blood, so it's probably nothing for kids.
"Hakuouki" might be leaning towards shoujo genre but has plenty fights and blood for anyone who prefers that. I'd definitely recommend giving it a watch as long as you're into samurai anime with a touch of supernaturalism, some emotionality and a real, decent plot. Although you might disagree if history bores you to no end.

Great Anime kept me entertained throughout the whole story and didnt get boring either.. highly recommend this to anyone who like swords play with a little bit of romance.. <<33 this anime. Enjoy :D

Must Watch!Damn those 'bishounen'(beautiful handsome boy) shinsengumi. 22 episodes, in the end will left u feel like "wait..what just happened? theres more right?" Well, unfortunately NO. Felt broken hearted almost a week... that's how good it was. Although i couldn't care less about the dense history. Just follow all the character closely, u'll understand what i meant. Season 1 (1-12 ep), Season 2 (ep: 13-22). Ugh!! this show should not be aired at all if its just 22eps. Really sad that's all to it.

This is indeed one of the best Shinsengumi animes out there. I just wish someone would post the first two eps in avi format. My computer does not like mkv. :( So please, please, please, please...if someone has the first two eps in avi...post them! You will be loved forever and have a number one fan! lol
