I'll compare this movie with 5 cm/second. Such a beautifull science fiction if ever watched, not really emotional like 5cm/second, but the atmosphere of thier distance can make you feel so sad. I love how makoto shinkai put a simple dialogue in every scene on the whole movie, simple but so deep. Although the animation is in a different level with 5cm/second, I still enjoyed the show.
Another more-than-short but honestly emotional anime, “Voices of a Distant Star” is sure to tug heart strings!
It is only one vid of about 25 minutes (yaaah, the supposed 4th episode is of another anime and was uploaded into the wrong category... lol) – but these 25 minutes surprise with an excellent story concept, well-done characters, and raw emotion and bonds. Longing, hopelessness, and patience are depicted beautifully, with a couple each following their own dreams but still keeping in contact. The dialogue might need a bit getting (read more)

Longing, hopelessness, and patience are depicted beautifully, with a couple each following their own dreams but still keeping in contact. The dialogue might need a bit getting used to, as it is mostly communication via cell-phones, but it is definitely heart-touching. The animation is surprisingly good with excellent art-style and music that surely helps getting the emotion across. For those looking out for a calm, soft, but heart-tugging anime, this is one of the shortest, but also one of the best in my book. Don’t miss out :D (show less)

Just as the guy before me said it's a great one u shouldn't miss! if u have all that time 2 watch all kind of worthless animes please spare some minutes for this one ..... u wont regret it later but make sure u watch it with a headset (this way u will be completely on tone with music and atmosphere so its a great method 2 watch masterpieces)
Despite the fact I watched this many many years ago, I can still remember the heartache I felt watching this short movie. I think we can all relate to the fact that we use all forms of technology to connect with people we love. The protagonists in this anime use the cellphone to send each other messages while following their own dreams. What gripped me the most is the patience the lovers have. The waiting kills and yet they continue forward with their relationship. Note the dialogue and you will sense a lot of longing and perhaps a bit of hopelessness (read more)
