A strange environmental phenomenon 22 years ago in the Kanazawa prefecture caused the land to split and protrude upwards reaching unprecedented heights, creating the secluded area known as The Lost Ground. He is one of the few people that are gifted with the Alter ability, which allows him to plaster his right arm and torso with a metallic alloy. This is a conflict anime (battle with a storyline, think more Naruto, less Dragonball) with our two main characters who start off enemies and then become friends/comrades though still in conflict to see whose the best (so again typical anime theme). The side characters are above average and don't depend on some weird physical appearance to be unique they actually have a bit of 3D personality. Some of them do of course have unique psychic powers but most of the side characters are more than just their power.

Fun except for the ending, which was another big anime disappointment in my book. I watched this on Cartoon Network back in the day and again later from Netflix, so definitely worth watching, you just might want to skip the last episode and make up your own ending, you'd likely do better than the creators of this anime did. (show less)

highly adictive with a very unique storyline. i enjoy this animation alot pity there aint more
At first i was like: hmm ok, but then i was like: omfg nice!!!.
Story developes a little slow at first but then it goes smoothly, there are no files, it's constant story. Then at the end it all comes together. And there is a nice twist at the end, it ain't a normal ending, wait for it.
The main conflict story stars with a misunderstanding between the 2 main characters with the secret story being slowly uncovered.
To conclude this short summery i will tell you that i enjoyed this series and it's worth taking the time to watch.

I haven't seen this anime in quite a while, I find the storyline to be entertaining because of it's originality. The characters are not portrayed as stereotypical individuals, but have a familiarity about them that you can recognize in some of the people you may meet. If you have a chance to view this anime, I would suggest you take advantage of the opportunity, I don't think you'll be disappointed. Enjoy!
In some respects, this series can be compared to other shows that focussed on rivalries born from opposing groups or ideologies (i.e. Death Note, Code Geass and such). The action scenes are alright, and while the storyline is satisfactory, it is nothing special. Watch the show if you are in the mood for an old school shounen series that use to be on Adult Swim.
