I watched this about 10 years ago and decided to download and watch again to see if I remembered correctly at how bad it really is. I did.
The storyline/plot is actually decent. This could have been a really good anime. But, they failed in the animation department. It is sub par. The script is just as bad and the voice acting is seriously cringe-worthy, especially with the main character.
There are a couple of nice action scenes, my favorite happening about the half-way point. But it's not enough to override everything else that is wrong.

Just because the synopsis didn't bother to explain, i felt compelled to state that this is based on a video game by the same name. Valve released an episodic sequel which was canceled after the first episode (1st game), and i was very pissed. :(

Funny thing about is that it's really well made...
you've got you're slice of action ; you've got you're slice of Sci-Fi ; you've got you're slice of a good story ; you've got you're slice of gore ; you've got you're slice of cute girls ; you've got you're slice of cute girls that turn into abominable creatures that tear you to pieces and so on...
Unlike many game to Anime shows that are crap this one really shines...no joke watch it...it's quite good...a bit short but good. :D
