I could say that the anime is nicer than the manga .. the manga contains a lots of explicit scenes and it almost listed as hard yaoi, I feel hesitate when try to download and watch the anime ones, to my surprise, the plot is nicer~ :D
The anime is quite good but i thought that it would be a romance anime. However the storyline is very good but at one point is not relative from the whole theme.

I though that this series might be something interesting. I started watching it without knowing the main characters were gay. It got me disgusted like hell. I hate those gay freak that ruin our anime world with their dirty gay series.

Antique Bakery was the best shounen ai anime I'd ever seen. The story had describe the taste, flavour, aroma and sweetness of every cake and deserts. The four main characters are hilarious especially Chikage who was extremelly clumsy. Ono was the type of guy who fall for every man he love, whether gay or straight. Tachibana was funny but serious when it came too girls. It has been shown that Tachibana was flirty on girls, but hate him when he was in high-school when he was too harsh on Ono.
The Art they design was special it gave out a little (read more)

The Art they design was special it gave out a little 3D effect if you look closely. The animations are good too, with good character development and nice background music.
Overall..... I think this this is a good anime. If you love shounen-ai or not, you must watch Antique Bakery as it is funny in all the ways~ :) (show less)

I orginally started watching this 3 years ago or something, but stopped, for some reason I couldn't remember, so I picked it up again just out of interest.
Painstakingly slow, its a wonder they pushed 4 volumes into 12 eps. It would have been better as a 2 ep OVA.
But if you wanna watch it at 2x speed to actually get some grips as to the plot, go for it.
If you're in the mood for something slow, it's a nice meander of character development with slight hints of BL, but nothing concrete.
Not really worth the time, in all honesty.

If you're a fan of soft yaoi, you'll like this series. The plot is basically four attractive young men running a patisserie, getting into messes but supporting each other and getting through it, who wouldn't like that?. The story is a tad far fetched, and at times seems like an excuse to thrust the characters into awkward situations. I felt the ending unsatisfying and a little forced. The animation style is quite attractive and very well done in terms of the interaction between the characters and the background, but there were times for me when (read more)

The animation style is quite attractive and very well done in terms of the interaction between the characters and the background, but there were times for me when the background distracted from the foreground figures. The characters could have had more depth, they were a bit too sweet for me. I wish they had messed up the running of the patisserie sometimes, burnt the cakes, burnt the coffee, spilt something, it would have made it more real for me. Overall, good for one viewing, but I don't think I'll watch it again. (show less)
There's something about this anime that makes one very receptive to the things happening there. It's one of the few shows that can make me laugh and hurt and then sigh with every switch of the mood they presented.
The characters, with their quirks and flaws somehow balance each other out. They are a dysfunctional bunch who manage to heal each others' wounds, somehow. Of course, they are exasperated at each other often (this is where the comic relief comes in), but it's only because they get along. Somehow.

The pace of the anime was fast, if you consider the storyline, but the way delivered it was in a sort of lovely lazy way that just sucks you in. The OST matched each episode quite well; the washed out quality of the videos actually suited the story.
I just loved everything :)
...Also, it makes me crave so hard for cake. (show less)
