Sakuragi Hanamichi is a junior high punk used to getting into fights and being rejected by girls but upon entering high school he meets the girl of his dreams, Haruko Akagi. He will do anything in order to win her heart including joining the school basketball team that is aiming to conquer the nation lead by Haruko's brother. The problem is that Sakuragi has never played basketball before and a freshman sensation is stealing the spotlight and Haruko's affection from him.

I'm not really a fan of basketball in real life, but I stumbled upon this anime one day and decided to give it a shot. It was totally worth it. I absolutley loved this anime and I highly reccomend it for anyone of any age as it is not only entertaining but funny, insperational and overall interesting to watch. Be wary though that the episodes video quality (the sound is fine) isn't as good as anime episodes are today because the anime was made in the 90's but the great story line/plot makes up for it!
well its really nice story, i found myself in it, wish his friends played basketball as well :P but its really great dialogues could be funnier, and animations on the play but its soo AWESOME :D watch it till the end its pretty interesting.

It is one of the most epic sports anime I have seen so far . At first i didn't like this game cause my favourite game is football ( Captain tsubabsa ) but now after finishing it I must say go for a dunk . This way you will have an idea of what this game is about & the fun you get from watching .

omfg this anime is really really great! comedy, romance, action are mixed into the story.
the plot and line are just so amusing that won't get us bored.
I've watched this anime since I was in elementary school and tbvh I never get bored of watching this anime ^___^.

i've watched this anime ever since i was in fourth grade and it never fails to make me laugh at its joke. this anime not only have a good comedy but also very inspirational. it excites me just from watching the show and not long after finishing the series, i decided to join basketball team.
(i'm a lousy player when it comes to shooting points but i'm good at defense! just like hanamichi! wahaha! proud to start off like the genius! *hanamichi called himself genius*)
